FRAMING
Framing was added to Spectrum services over two years ago and the department has gone from strength to strength offering a wide range of hand made frames to suit your needs. You can rest assured that our framer’s 15 years experience and our extensive moulding selection, along with our friendly professional advice, will ensure you get the best finish for your work.

For prints over 40x30cm we recommend mounting to a substrate to keep them flat within the frame and avoid any sagging over time. There are three substrate options available for framing. 3mm PVC for frames with a small depth, 5mm KAPA™ foamboard and 2mm Dibond. PVC and KAPA™ offer a light weight rigidity to your print where as Dibond has the longest life span and will not deteriorate over time.
We offer the highest possible protection for your artwork by using archivally-sound materials in our framing department. We only use Artcare™ mountboard for our window mounts, described as the next generation in museum-quality conservation. Where as standard mountboards are purely acid-free so as not to harm artwork, Artcare™ proactively traps and neutralizes pollutants and acid by-products that would damage your artwork. We offer this at no more cost than a standard mountboard.
For those customers who are looking for museum standard quality we offer a superior selection when it comes to choosing glass for your frame. Our standard glass is the optically clear 'Water White Float', but we do also offer 'MIROGARD™ Anti-Reflect' and 'MIROGARD™ Anti-Reflect glass plus enhanced UV filtration'. We recommend these options where colour reproduction and clarity of image is of utmost importance. All MIROGARD™ glass can be used at any distance off the artwork without image distortion, making it perfect for box frames. Because they are absolutely colour neutral and reduce reflections to less than 1%, MIROGARD glass is as good as invisible.

Standard Frame
Your artwork will be mounted to PVC, KAPA™ Foamboard or Dibond, either edge to edge or on an oversized piece to allow space for a window mount. Should you decide to have a window mount, you can choose from our range of Artcare™ mountboards, with over 150 different colours available. We have a wide range of frame mouldings in varying colours, depths and styles to choose from. Should you decide to have your image edge to edge we would recommend inserting a small fillet to ensure that the glass is kept away from your print.
Box Frame
Box framing is a classic way of presenting your artwork. We would firstly mount your print to either PVC, KAPA™ Foamboard or Dibond, edge to edge. You can then choose from our wide range of box mouldings and fillets, either having a fillet to match the colour of the moulding, or if you're having a photographic border then a white fillet is often popular. The glass sits at the front of the frame, with the wide fillet keeping the mounted print at the back of the frame. Box frames tend not to have window mounts but this is an option if desired.
Floating Box Frame
The Floating Box frame offers a contemporary take on the classic Box frame. Your print is mounted to either 2mm Dibond or 1mm Aluminium and then floated, by way of a subframe in the middle of your selected frame. You can choose from our range of box mouldings, fillets and glass as with a normal box frame. You can choose to have as little or as much space between the edge of your mounted print and the edge of the frame as you like. A truly stunning way to present your art.
