Installing a “.psf” file (SoftProof) Drop the Photoshop Soft Proofing file in the following location:
For Mac OS X and above: Users > library > application support > adobe > color > proofing
Windows XP Users: C > Program files > common files > adobe > color> proofing
Windows Vista Users: C: > Users > yourID > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Color > Proofing
How to SoftProof your file
In the Photoshop file you wish to preview, go to View > Proof Setup menu.
Select the Spectrum Proof Setup (it will show at the bottom of the list)
A tick mark appears next to “Proof Colours” for you to toggle on and off to identify problem areas in the image.
Under View menu there is an option for Gamut Warning. By selecting this option you can see those colours unavailable on the output printer.
